人は自然の一部であると私は考えています。自然の大きな流れに歩調を合わせると、不安や恐怖が和らぎ、安らぎを感じることがあります。しかし、資本主義社会の中で過ごしていると、日々の忙しさに追われ、その感覚を忘れてしまいがちです。

このブローチは、実際の花の美しさと、生命の循環をテーマにしています。鋳込まれた花は、生命と死、再生の循環を象徴し、その中での変化を感じ取ることができます。ワックスシートを溶かしてできた水のようなテクスチャーを鋳造技法でアルミ板に表現し、時間の流れや生命の移ろいを込めました。身につけることで、ふとした瞬間にその循環を感じ、安らぎを得るきっかけになれば幸いです。

ブローチは特に上下等は決めずに使用できます。

この技法は、本物の生花を原形として、鋳型を制作し、その鋳型に金属を流し込み、金属で花を完全に表現する髙橋独自の技法。

I believe that humans are a part of nature. When we move in harmony with the great flow of nature, our fears and anxieties fade away, bringing us a sense of peace. However, in a capitalist society, we are often consumed by the busyness of daily life and tend to forget this connection.

This brooch embodies the beauty of real flowers and the cycle of life. The cast flower symbolizes the continuous cycle of life, death, and rebirth, allowing us to sense the changes within it. The aluminum plate features a texture inspired by the rippling surface of water, created through a casting technique that melts the surface of a wax sheet. This piece encapsulates the passage of time and the transient nature of life. I hope that by wearing it, you can feel this cycle and find a moment of peace.

“Kūge” — Transfiguration of Flowers through Casting

Kūge is an incense container (kōgō) created while exploring the themes of life, death, and rebirth. Using the same casting method as my Flower Funeral series, it reconsiders the cycle of life from a craft perspective.

In Buddhism, kūge (“empty flower”) refers to an illusory blossom, a symbol of impermanence. Yet Zen thought values it as a truth reflected in the mind of the viewer. This idea resonates with the tea ceremony’s aesthetics of mitate, where meaning and function shift according to the user’s sensibility.

In this work, real flowers are burned away and reborn in metal through my Hana-ikomi casting technique. Melted wax was also used to capture the fleeting surface of water, symbolizing Buddha-nature that persists through constant change.

By shaping it as a usable object, the piece invites not only viewing but also handling. It seeks to cross the boundary between craft and art, opening new interpretations in the space of the tea ceremony.

When placed in a tearoom, how will this kōgō let a flower bloom? That open possibility is its true essence.

“Kūge” — Transfiguration of Flowers through Casting

Kūge is an incense container (kōgō) created while exploring the themes of life, death, and rebirth. Using the same casting method as my Flower Funeral series, it reconsiders the cycle of life from a craft perspective.

In Buddhism, kūge (“empty flower”) refers to an illusory blossom, a symbol of impermanence. Yet Zen thought values it as a truth reflected in the mind of the viewer. This idea resonates with the tea ceremony’s aesthetics of mitate, where meaning and function shift according to the user’s sensibility.

<作品コンセプト>
「空華」——鋳造による花の転生と見立ての美学

この作品「空華」は、「生と死」「再生」のテーマを探求する中で、茶道具である香合の形に落とし込んだ作品である。Flower Funeralシリーズと同じ鋳造技法を用い、工芸的な視点から生命の循環を見つめ直す試みとして制作した。

「空華」という言葉は、仏教において眼の曇りが見せる幻の花を指し、無常の象徴とされる。しかし、禅の視点では、それを単なる幻想と否定するのではなく、「見る者の心に映るものこそが真理」と捉える。この考え方は、茶道における「見立て」の美学にも通じ、道具の役割や価値は固定されたものではなく、使う人の感性によって変化する。

今回の香合「空華」では、花鋳込みの技法を用い、生花を焼失させながらもその姿を金属に転生させている。また、Waxを溶かして水の表情を施すことで、儚く流れゆくものを金属にとどめた。これは、仏性が形を変えながらも在り続けることを象徴しているのかもしれない。

また、香合という**「使える物」**としての形を持たせることで、鑑賞するだけでなく、触れ、使うことで作品の存在を感じられるようにした。工芸とアートの狭間で、物の在り方や機能を超えた生命観を探る意図があると同時に、茶の湯の空間の中でどのように見立てられ、新たな意味を生むのかという可能性にも目を向けている。

“Kūge” — Transmigration of Flowers through Casting and the Aesthetics of Mitate

Kūge explores “life and death” and “rebirth,” shaped as an incense container (kōgō) for the tea ceremony. Using the same casting technique as the Flower Funeral series, it reexamines the cycle of life through a craft perspective.

In Buddhism, Kūge (空華) refers to illusory flowers symbolizing impermanence. In Zen, however, what appears in the mind is considered truth itself. This idea aligns with mitate aesthetics in tea culture, where an object’s role and meaning change depending on the user’s perception.

Here, the Hana-Ikome technique allows the living flower to burn away while being reborn as metal. Wax is melted to create flowing, water-like textures, capturing the transience of life in a lasting form. This may suggest that Buddha-nature endures even as forms shift.

By making this a functional object, not only for viewing but also for touch and use, it invites deeper engagement. Positioned between craft and art, it questions fixed ideas of function and existence while embracing the potential to be reimagined in the tea space.

国立工芸館は、私にとって学生時代から学びの場であり、鋳金を志すきっかけとなった鈴木長吉の大作が収められている特別な場所です。そのような場に自身の作品が収蔵されることは、作家として大変光栄であり、身の引き締まる思いです。

「空華」——鋳造による花の転生と見立ての美学

この作品「空華」は、「生と死」「再生」のテーマを探求する中で、茶道具である香合の形に落とし込んだ作品である。Flower Funeralシリーズと同じ鋳造技法を用い、工芸的な視点から生命の循環を見つめ直す試みとして制作した。

「空華」という言葉は、仏教において眼の曇りが見せる幻の花を指し、無常の象徴とされる。しかし、禅の視点では、それを単なる幻想と否定するのではなく、「見る者の心に映るものこそが真理」と捉える。この考え方は、茶道における「見立て」の美学にも通じ、道具の役割や価値は固定されたものではなく、使う人の感性によって変化する。

今回の香合「空華」では、花鋳込みの技法を用い、生花を焼失させながらもその姿を金属に転生させている。また、Waxを溶かして水の表情を施すことで、儚く流れゆくものを金属にとどめた。これは、仏性が形を変えながらも在り続けることを象徴しているのかもしれない。

また、香合という**「使える物」**としての形を持たせることで、鑑賞するだけでなく、触れ、使うことで作品の存在を感じられるようにした。工芸とアートの狭間で、物の在り方や機能を超えた生命観を探る意図があると同時に、茶の湯の空間の中でどのように見立てられ、新たな意味を生むのかという可能性にも目を向けている。

人は自然の一部であると私は考えています。自然の大きな流れに歩調を合わせると、不安や恐怖が和らぎ、安らぎを感じることがあります。しかし、資本主義社会の中で過ごしていると、日々の忙しさに追われ、その感覚を忘れてしまいがちです。

このブローチは、実際の花の美しさと、生命の循環をテーマにしています。鋳込まれた花は、生命と死、再生の循環を象徴し、その中での変化を感じ取ることができます。ワックスシートを溶かしてできた水のようなテクスチャーを鋳造技法でアルミ板に表現し、時間の流れや生命の移ろいを込めました。身につけることで、ふとした瞬間にその循環を感じ、安らぎを得るきっかけになれば幸いです。

This brooch embodies the beauty of real flowers and the cycle of life. The cast flower symbolizes the continuous cycle of life, death, and rebirth, allowing us to sense the changes within it. The aluminum plate features a texture inspired by the rippling surface of water, created through a casting technique that melts the surface of a wax sheet. This piece encapsulates the passage of time and the transient nature of life. I hope that by wearing it, you can feel this cycle and find a moment of peace.

人は自然の一部であると私は考えています。自然の大きな流れに歩調を合わせると、不安や恐怖が和らぎ、安らぎを感じることがあります。しかし、資本主義社会の中で過ごしていると、日々の忙しさに追われ、その感覚を忘れてしまいがちです。

このブローチは、実際の花の美しさと、生命の循環をテーマにしています。鋳込まれた花は、生命と死、再生の循環を象徴し、その中での変化を感じ取ることができます。ワックスシートを溶かしてできた水のようなテクスチャーを鋳造技法でアルミ板に表現し、時間の流れや生命の移ろいを込めました。身につけることで、ふとした瞬間にその循環を感じ、安らぎを得るきっかけになれば幸いです。

ブローチは特に上下等は決めずに使用できます。

I believe that humans are a part of nature. When we move in harmony with the great flow of nature, our fears and anxieties fade away, bringing us a sense of peace. However, in a capitalist society, we are often consumed by the busyness of daily life and tend to forget this connection.

This brooch embodies the beauty of real flowers and the cycle of life. The cast flower symbolizes the continuous cycle of life, death, and rebirth, allowing us to sense the changes within it. The aluminum plate features a texture inspired by the rippling surface of water, created through a casting technique that melts the surface of a wax sheet. This piece encapsulates the passage of time and the transient nature of life. I hope that by wearing it, you can feel this cycle and find a moment of peace.

今展は、独自の視点や解釈を作品に反映し、自己表現の革新を求め制作する作家による平面と立体のグループ展です。「知覚」とは、感覚器官を通して外部の事物や情報を感じ取り、それを認識していくための心理学的なプロセスとされます。現代人は、非常に多くの刺激にさらされる環境におり、膨大な量の情報を常に知覚しております。一方で、SNSや検索という機能の急速な普及により、自らの求める情報やモノ以外が排除され、特定の事象のみに意識を向けてしまいがちな近視眼的側面もあります。様々な環境の変化により、ヒトが本来備え持つ「知覚する力」が弱体化傾向にある可能性も示唆される中、今展では、認識の多様性を示すかのような表現手法による芸術作品を介し、鑑賞者の認知する感覚を喚起するかのような空間構成を試みます。アーティストと鑑賞者、双方に内在する主観性というフィルターを通して発生する作品への多様な解釈と理解の幅。それが、ある時は観るものの既存の認識を覆し、或いは観察と思考が一致することによる一種のシンクロニシティを生み出して、「意識」と「無意識」の境界線から、潜在する感覚や感情が呼び起こされます。ぜひ今展の展示空間にて、新たな感受性の扉が解き放たれるかのような作品との出会いをお楽しみください。

今展は、独自の視点や解釈を作品に反映し、自己表現の革新を求め制作する作家による平面と立体のグループ展です。「知覚」とは、感覚器官を通して外部の事物や情報を感じ取り、それを認識していくための心理学的なプロセスとされます。現代人は、非常に多くの刺激にさらされる環境におり、膨大な量の情報を常に知覚しております。一方で、SNSや検索という機能の急速な普及により、自らの求める情報やモノ以外が排除され、特定の事象のみに意識を向けてしまいがちな近視眼的側面もあります。様々な環境の変化により、ヒトが本来備え持つ「知覚する力」が弱体化傾向にある可能性も示唆される中、今展では、認識の多様性を示すかのような表現手法による芸術作品を介し、鑑賞者の認知する感覚を喚起するかのような空間構成を試みます。アーティストと鑑賞者、双方に内在する主観性というフィルターを通して発生する作品への多様な解釈と理解の幅。それが、ある時は観るものの既存の認識を覆し、或いは観察と思考が一致することによる一種のシンクロニシティを生み出して、「意識」と「無意識」の境界線から、潜在する感覚や感情が呼び起こされます。ぜひ今展の展示空間にて、新たな感受性の扉が解き放たれるかのような作品との出会いをお楽しみください。

ご無沙汰しております。
国立工芸館の企画展に参加いたします。

「心象工芸展」
期間:9月6日〜12月1日
場所:国立工芸館
[参加作家]
沖潤子、佐々木類、髙橋賢悟、中川衛、中田真裕、松永圭太

　工芸館は個人的に想い入れのある存在です。工芸館には僕が鋳造の道に進むきっかけとなった明治工芸の鈴木長吉作「十二の鷹」が所蔵されているからです。また、学生時代に工芸と向き合い、何を作ればよいか悩んでいる時、工芸館には何度か足を運んだ事を覚えてます。(工芸館移転前の話です。)
いつも学びがあり、鋳金限らず先人達の素材への向き合い方、工夫を凝らして生み出された技法、そこから生まれる新たな創造や時代背景から来る熱い想い、作品へ真摯に取り組む姿勢は大変勉強になりました。
　工芸館での展示は作家として一つの目標でしたので、この様な機会恵まれた事を大変嬉しく思います。
　また、この展覧会では素材を探究し、独自の表現を確立し、世界で活躍されてる方々とご一緒し、さらに金工では人間国宝の中川衛先生と展示させて頂く形となり、大変光栄に思っております。改めてこの様な展示にお誘いくださった工芸館の岩井美恵子氏には感謝しております。
　今回の展示では、花の加飾による表現では自身の作品では過去最大の大作を出品いたします。また、工芸館ということもあり自身のバックボーンである工芸を見つめ直し、工芸家としてお茶道具を制作し、初めて発表致します。全新作で、9点出品しております。
是非ご高覧頂けましたら幸いです。
